The first Boulangerie Artisan store in Kyiv was opened in 2007.

At Boulangerie, we have collected the best bread and pastry recipes from France and not just from there. For there are countless varieties of dough and additives that turn bread almost into a meal in itself! Behind every famous recipe, there is a history which we have to make sure not to lose:

• For instance, the traditional French bread had round shape. According to one version, a typical Parisian baguette has appeared only in 1920: it is 65 centimeters long, weights 200 grams and has precisely 3 slashes on the golden crust. In 1993, the baguette recipe was even protected by the special ‘bread decree’ to make sure that the quality of France’s true symbol remains unchanged.
• The famous croissant has also received its legend: in 1683, the Turks wanted to storm Vienna by digging an underground tunnel at night. It were bakers, working when the whole city was asleep, who saved Vienna. As a gesture of gratitude and in commemoration of this event, bakers were allowed to make pastry shaped as the crescent. It was how the croissant became a symbol of victory over the Ottoman Empire, and later, a French specialty.
• Another hit on our menu is our pride, Pain au Levain: a country-style sourdough bread which was usually baked for the young wine festival Beaujolais Nouveau. These are just a few items on our bread carte.

At our store, you will find incredibly tasty bread and flour confections, the recipes for which we have brought from our European journeys: Italian ciabatta and panettone, German Stollen (Christmas pie) and Spandauer bun, Georgian khachapuri with brynza and many other breads.

Today, our guests pronounce the name ‘Boulangerie Artisan’, or simply ‘Boulangerie’, without errors. People visiting us come here to buy a baguette for breakfast, meet with friends over a cup of coffee with French croissant, or simply stop by for a minute to find out what new sweet treats we have and smell the aroma of fresh bread. We love our guests, and know exactly what bread and pastries they like. After all, it was a good thing to bring such an unusual souvenir from our trip to France – the idea of Boulangerie Artisan bakery.
